A magnificent, rugged evergreen conifer that develops a highly distinct, picturesque, broad umbrella-shaped crown with age. Features thick, rugged, deeply fissured red-brown bark and pairs of stiff, bright green needles. Produces large, woody cones containing prized edible pine nuts.
